As an avid lover of fashion and historical costume, I about died and went to heaven when I was given the opportunity to visit the Fashion Museum in Bath, England. World renowned and housing some of the most well preserved clothing items around this is must see if you are a lover of fashion, art, museums, or if you can appreciate history in its many forms!
The Fashion Museum in Bath is located in The Assembly Rooms, its tucked off behind the main tourist strip and most of the museum is located in lower levels underneath the building.
The museum has several exhibitions, all arranged chronically as if you were walking through history in real time. Starting with pieces from as early as the 18th century, you walk along up until contemporary fashion today.
One area where museums often lose a visitors interest involves lack of engagement and interaction. Most people can't just look and read; we need to touch, feel, play, use! The best part about this museum was that there was a costume section where you could wear the pieces. Now, these were replicas of historical costume, not the real things but it was SO MUCH FUN to try on the clothing and pretend to be from a different time period. I even forced my boyfriend in to some of the action!
